2000 LBS OF BLUES - SOUL OF A SINNER

I played 2000 Lbs of Blues on my unsigned band segment and put them right into my regular rotation.  "Great CD, great band!"

-By Gary Wagner, 88.1 KJAZZ   America's Jazz & Blues Station

Featuring vocalist Michael "Pink" Arguello and an all star cast the latest 2000 LBS creation Soul of a Sinner shows off the well rounded side of the band. It seems as if they made an effort to cover all blues genres, a musical roundtrip so to speak. I do have to say that they really have pulled it off nicely. There are a lot of very cool variations on this album from Raw Harmonica Blues to some Terrific Soulful Blues; a good portion of Rocking Blues, even a Rap and of course one of their West Coast Jump trademarked songs called Dont Jump! Old School meets New School and come together to create a Great New Sound!

"Soul of a Sinner" is Beautiful! This CD is far from predictable and a Very Exciting Blues Release! Closing the set with the title track "Soul of a Sinner" it sounds as if a barrelhouse blues shouter had stepped out of the thirties with a 100 percent authentic old-fashioned sound.

-By Ron, Rootstime

"Arguello sings this program with comfortable ease. He drives hard on searing songs such as "Bad Reputation" and "Belly of the Beast" and cools off soulfully on others, such as "Real Bad Woman" and "Big Empty House." This is a outstanding program of spirited blues originals.

-By Jim Santella, Southland Blues

"'Soul of a Sinner' is a strong and raw album and shows Michael from a side we never heard from him before. The playful and swinging part made room for a deep and raw Blues straight from the heart and I'm curious if after this 4th album, which is by far his best..."

-By Freddy Vandervelpen, Rootsville Belgium

"5 Stars! This is definitely one of the Best albums I have listened to in 2009 and I have heard many. Michael Arguello and his Band play a West Coast Blues that you will love. Fantastic Album, highly recommended. This is Blues that the Ladies will love."

-By Bernhard Schulte, Radio Germany

Very raw and soulful sound... Complete with a greasy harmonica sound, the way it should be. The title track takes you into the atmosphere of the Old School Blues, piano accompanied sounds as if you took a trip back into the mid 40s Big Joe Turner style. With their swinging West Coast jump, they are also known for their breathtaking live shows.

Can I give 6 Stars? this is a fantastic album by Pink Aquello. Not only is he a great performer he has the ability to be one of the big names in blues. This album is from track one to 13 a journey through todays blues. Kirk Fletcher is one of my favorite blues guitar players and does a wonderful job on this album. On one track you can hear the wonderful harper Johnny Mastro. This album is highly and thoroughly suggested. Have played it many times in my radio show. WUNDERBAR as we say

I love this CD. Every song is a winner. My favorite song changes from week to week, heck some times day to day....just depends on my mood. But regardless of my mood it's always about good music. The songs this band has put together really come from the heart and hit you deep and hard. I highly recommend this cd for any music lover!
